New Heloicopter pilot

Postby CBGriffin » Tue Sep 09, 2014 5:16 pm

New commercial helo pilot, trained in a 300. Bought a 12E. I have done some low hovers, in the 12E but the controls are different. The hover feels fragile. I,m in upstate ny and am looking for a pilot who is familiar with this machine to "go along for the ride" hover practice only.

Hi there,

I also trained in a 300 series although it was a TH55A and I owned a few of those then bought a Hiller D model so I can sympathize with your concerns. I also just bought a newer E model and flew it for the first time a few days ago. The E and D models are slower to react on the controls than a 300 for sure and it takes some time to adjust but it shouldn't take long till you feel comfortable with it. If you were to come down to Va we could go fly in my D and hopefully you would gain some confidence I'm not a CFI but I don't think you need one at this point.

Hi Rickey, I'm interested in your offer to fly. I tried to contact you @ 540 580 7528 and got a message that this number was no longer valid. My number is 518 597 3201 or mcdtops@yahoo.com (David Griffin)
