Jasco alternator issues on a 12E

Postby SL12572 » Sun Feb 19, 2012 8:03 am

Ive got a 12E with a Jasco alternator and it loves to chew up the little rubber drive bushings in no time. Any tips, tricks, or suggestions to prevent this from happening would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try to find the old style Jasco with the solid splined shaft. Overhaul it and be sure to have the rotor balanced, it spins 8000rpm when the engine is at 3200rpm. Then where the field breaker is on the lower panel replace it with a toggle breaker switch. Start and shut the engine down with the toggle switch open, this will unload the rotor for starts and shutdowns. Jasco should know this, but they just sell them, not work them.
